Who We Are

The Board was formally established in January 2020 and includes representatives from adult and paediatric services from all 8 trusts across the region, patient and family representatives, primary care and regional NHS England commissioners.


The Board meets four times per year and is chaired by Professor Jonathan Wyllie from South Tees Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. 


The Network Board has representatives from across the region including the Level 1 Specialist Surgical Centre at Newcastle and the other 7 acute Trusts. The board is multidisciplinary including clinicians, nurses, managers, patients, family representatives and regional commissioners.

Jonathan is a consultant neonatologist at The James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough and was clinical director of neonatology until May 2017. He has a special expertise in paediatric cardiology, has run PEC clinics since 1994 and was a founding member of PECSIG.

After qualifying as a children’s nurse in 2002 Kaye worked in cardiology and cardiothoracic surgery in both Dublin and Newcastle.  She specialises in the lifespan care of patients with CHD and leads professionals across the region developing collaborative relationships and robust education programmes.

Terry has over 20 years project and programme management experience working in both the private and public sector to deliver regional and national programmes of work.  Her interests lie in forging a network approach to enhance collaborative working to improve patient care and workforce development.
