Congenital Heart Disease (CHD) e-learning programme

About

The Congenital Heart Disease (CHD) programme provides an essential overview of the condition and highlights the advances in paediatric care that have resulted in increasing numbers of patients surviving into adult life.  This programme is aimed at all NHS clinical staff who are not specialists in this subject but may need to care for patients with CHD in their current role.

You can access the programme on the NHS Learning Hub by clicking here.

The programme

This programme was authored by Expert clinicians (medical and nursing) in congenital heart disease. Our network Adult CHD Lead, Dr Louise Coats, was the author of the ACHD module and Kaye Walsh, our Lead Nurse, the author of the Paediatric module.

The programme contains the following modules, which each take approximately 20-25 minutes to complete:

  • An introduction to Congenital Heart Disease
  • An introduction to the Neonate or Infant with Congenital Heart Disease
  • Acute Presentations in Adult Congenital Heart Disease

Partnership

This programme was created in partnership with:

  • British Congenital Cardiac Association (BCCA)
  • British Adult Congenital Cardiac Nurses Association (BACCNA)
  • Children's Heart Federation (CHF)
  • Somerville Heart Federation
  • Congenital Cardiac Nurses Association (CCNA)
